Living in victory after abuse.
Abuse wears many faces. It is called by many names. It can live anywhere. The most obvious is physical abuse: the black eye, the bruises, the broken bones … often explained away as accidents. It can also include sleep deprivation, starvation, and forced labor where the bruises are less obvious but much more intrinsic. Then there is psychological abuse; it is much less recognized as abuse by the trapped victim. It comes in the form of verbal and emotional battering. Sexual abuse combines the worst of both physical and psychological abuse and has a long-lasting impact upon its victim, robbing her (or him) of the ability to develop any healthy boundaries in future relationships. Then there is what I consider the most insidious form of abuse … spiritual abuse. Spiritual abuse can include physical, psychological, and/or sexual abuse, but it is done in the name of God.
It is a lie!
A woman caught in either physical or emotional abuse usually lives in fear … and often in denial. A woman caught in spiritual abuse lives with the certainty that God is punishing her. She believes with all her heart that God requires her utter and total submission to her abuser.
But you are no longer a victim! You can be living in victory after abuse.
There is a hope and a future for you!
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. The are new every morning"
